These are my four favorite books—ever. They are the only books I truly could not put down and thought about for months after finally doing so. Love them. Sadly though, I have not read a good book in ages. I’ve been sorely disappointed with the choices of the many book clubs in which I’ve participated over the years and am not sure how to filter out all the stuff that’s only so-so. Generally when I have free time I like to make things but I really miss that feeling of losing myself in a good book—the feeling I had while reading the novels shown above, two of which (In Cold Blood and Anna Karenina) kept my 21-year-old college self home on more than a few Saturday nights.
I’d really love to hear about the books that could keep you home on a Saturday night (before kids). I need a slam dunk because the thing is—and I know you understand—my time is precious. I can’t afford to waste it on something that’s not great. Can you help me out, friends?
Other books I have enjoyed: White Oleander, To Kill a Mockingbird, Memoirs of a Geisha and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.
